American Ash

Native to the eastern half of the USA and Southern Ontario, its height can reach over 100 feet. Ash is straight-grained, heavy, hard, strong, and stiff. It wears smooth, with high shock resistance. It machines well and is better than average in nail and screw-holding capacity. The sapwood of ash is light brown, while the heartwood is brown to greyish brown.

Walnut

Walnut is a much-prized wood that is highly refined in apperance. It is often described as a deep chocolate version of Cherry. The dark and rich brown to black tones of walnut, with a soft flooring grain makes for a truly beautiful floor.Boards will include the presence of some knots and sapwood since these are inherent characteristics of this species.

Yellow Pine

This historic wood ranges in colour from light yellow sapwood to dense orange-brown heartwood, with lots of grain variation. Yellow Pine is a "hard" softwood that wears very well under normal day to day use. It creates that old country home atmosphere with a comfortable feel. This pine creates a floor of great colour and interest with mixed grain patterns and density.

U.S. White Oak

This wood has a swirling grain pattern with warm brown colour tones. The prime grade is a dense wood with few small knots or stains. The country grade features a combination of warm brown coloured tones with knots, marks and minimal stains adding to the character. Rare Earth Heartwoods machine only American oak from the Appalachian and Canadian regions.

Honduran Pine

This is a faster growth new pine from the Honduras forests. It has a grain similar in appearance to Heart Pine but should not be confused with the antique, dense and vivid grain of Heart Pine with a reddish rich warm glow and can be a more economic alternative.
