The Beauty of Wood - Beauty that is Centuries Deep

The vast forests of Southern Longleaf Pine that once covered much of the Eastern seaboard of the USA were almost entirely timbered-out during the eighteenth century to help build Industrial America. The wood was so plentiful that often the only choice centre - the "heartwood" - of the logs was used, and the wood came to be known as "Heart Pine". Today the primary source of Heart Pine is the beams and timber of old mills, factories and warehouses. We carefully research each location, partnering with the local historical societies, corporate historians and anyone else knowledgeable about the structure. Rare Earth Heartwoods bring the distinctive character and colour of its long history to its customers through the exceptionally striking Historic Heart Pine flooring.

Historic Heart Pine - A Gift from History

Like fine antique furniture, the warm glow and stunning beauty of Historic Heart Pine comes from its age. The forests first explored by Sir Francis Drake, Ponce de Leon and Captain John Smith, were towering stands of Southern Longleaf Pine. Many of those same three and four-hundred year old trees were felled to build nineteenth century warehouses and factories. So when you admire the rich character of our Historic Heart Pine you are looking at three to five centuries of nature's work.
